|Some of the more observant amongst you may well have noticed that the school has used a number of variations on the theme of the school badge over a number of years. This will now hopefully be remedied as the design for the school badge has now been changed and agreed upon by the Governors. This includes the correct colouring of the Tudor Rose.|
|S. L. Darby Appeal
The appeal is reaching its conclusion with the bust having been finished by sculptor Seamus Moran it has now gone to a foundry in order to be cast. Once it arrives at School, a niche will be created and a plaque installed and the President is hopeful of having a small ceremony to unveil the sculpture. We are hopeful that it will be in place by the end of the summer term, but it more likely to be in place by autumn. It will be available for everyone to see at the Annual Dinner.
Our sincere thanks go out to all those benefactors of the appeal who have given so generously.
The annual Wreath Laying will take place on 30th June at Westminster Abbey and a lunch arranged for immediately after.
We meet as usual at 1.00 p.m. at the tomb of the Unknown Warrior just inside the main West Door of the Abbey. The school party of Year 7 boys, with Prefects and Staff, joins us at this point. We then move to the Queen Elizabeth Chapel for the short service, including the Wreath Laying. Lunch follows for the Old Marians present, arranged by Jonathan Turton, in the Restaurant Sorriso, at 10A Broadway, off Victoria Street and next to New Scotland Yard. The cost of lunch is very reasonable. Those who wish to meet for a drink beforehand – from 12.15 onwards – gather at the Westminster Arms, opposite the Abbey, in Storey’s Gate, next to Westminster Central Hall.
To book lunch please contact Jonathan Turton, email@example.com or 020 8947 8124. If you have any special dietary requirements please contact the Restaurant direct nearer the time on 020 7222 3338.
Walsall members who wish to travel by minibus to London for the day should contact Tony Sutton on 01922 622357. He is again arranging transport from school.
If you can only join us for the Wreath Laying you will be most welcome. Should you wish to contact Chris for any reason, please do so on 07880 798173 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org .
