Queen Mary’s Club is the alumni organisation for ex-pupils of
Queen Mary’s Grammar School in Walsall.
We run events throughout the year to support the school and to foster community between the alumni. Take a look around, see if you can spot yourself in the alumni galleries and we look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
Wreath Laying 2018
The annual ceremony in Westminster Abbey will take place at 1.15pm on Friday 6th July 2018.
All Old Marians are invited to attend the Ceremony and friends and spouses are welcome too. After that, this year we are planning to take a boat ride to Greenwich, have lunch there, then visit the Greenwich Naval College for a free walk around. Lunch usually costs about £25: on top of that there will be a charge for the boat trip on the river which is £12.24 (this is a group booking with a discount). So the charge for the day is £37.24 and anything extra (such as drinks with the meal) will have to be paid for at the time. You can book lunch here by paying £25 online or lunch and boat for £37.24 (by booking both tickets).
If anyone wants to travel to London in the minibus from School, leaving at 8 am, they will need to book a place (no cost) by telephoning Gillian Columbine on 01922720696 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Old Marians' Dinner 2018
This year the Old Marians’ Annual Dinner will be held at 7pm for a 7.30pm start on Saturday, 29th September, here at School. The speaker is Andrew Dickson, who left QM in 1977 and followed a career in the Fire Service, rising to the rank of Watch Commander. Since retirement he has worked as a Fire and Health & Safety consultant. He is an active member of the QMC Committee, joining some 30 years ago: he is a Trustee of Farchynys and sits on the board of the Old Boys Scholarship Fund. He regularly attends the Annual Dinner and the Wreath Laying ceremony in London. He is married with two grown-up sons and enjoys playing and umpiring hockey and refereeing football. Some of you may remember his father, Wing Commander John Dickson, who was a Master here at School and i/c the CCF for many years.
