Queen Mary’s Club is the alumni organisation for ex-pupils of
Queen Mary’s Grammar School in Walsall.
We run events throughout the year to support the school and to foster community between the alumni. Take a look around, see if you can spot yourself in the alumni galleries and we look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
Wreath Laying 2019
Find us at the West Door of Westminster Abbey at 1 pm to join our short service in the Queen Elizabeth Chapel at 1.15pm on Friday 5th July 2019, when we celebrate the establishment of our School by Queen Mary in 1554. All Old Marians are welcome, as are spouses and friends.
Following the ceremony we shall walk round the Abbey to visit the Jewel Tower (cost £4 each), built by Edward III to house his treasures and one of only two buildings from the medieval Palace of Westminster to survive the fire in 1834. After that we shall have lunch at the Cellarium in Westminster Abbey, which usually costs about £24 (drinks extra, to be paid for individually on the day) so a ticket for the day will cost £28 to cover both.
If anyone wants to travel to London in the minibus from School, leaving at 8 am, they will need to book a place (no cost) by telephoning Gillian Columbine on 01922720696 or emailing email@example.com.
Old Marians' Dinner 2019
This year the Old Marians’ Annual Dinner will be held at 7pm for a 7.30pm start on Saturday, 28th September, here at School. The speaker will be Roger Smith QC, a barrister since 1972 with Cornwall Street Chambers in Birmingham.
For the cohort of 1969, it is now 50 years since you left and high time you came back to School! It really is an enjoyable evening and a lovely opportunity to hear about the School as it is today from the Headmaster, Richard Langton. We shall indulge in all the traditions, including taking snuff (not compulsory!), and singing the School Song.
If you would like to join a tour of the School at 5 pm please email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01922 720696 to add your name to the list. The School has undergone many changes and many new buildings have appeared, so it will be an interesting tour with the Headmaster, Richard Langton, to explain it all.
