David Swinnerton (QM 1982-89)

David Swinnerton (QM 1982-89) has been appointed as a Circuit Judge based at Liverpool Crown Court with effect from 20th April 2020. David has worked as a barrister, based in Birmingham, since 1995. His practice has predominantly been in crime. Thankfully he has not met many Marians in a professional capacity, other than fellow lawyers.

Since 2016 he has been a recorder (part-time judge) in the North-West. From 20th April he will be a full time judge, based at Liverpool, dealing with criminal work in the crown court. His Honour Judge Swinnerton will be dealing with jury trials and sentencing most serious criminal offences, although not yet murder. He is excited at the prospect of exploring Liverpool, although realising that it’s just not Walsall!
